Role Overview The Manager, Outbound Transportation is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transportation and logistics processes for outbound shipments/operations. Additionally, this role involves managing logistics, coordinating with carriers, ensuring compliance with regulations, and improving efficiency in transportation processes. This role is responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders and ensuring that goods are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively. The Manager, Outbound Transportation plays a crucial role in supporting and optimizing the relationship with a third-party logistics (3PL) provider, as well as strategic planning and collaboration. Duties & Responsibilities Operations Management Analyze transportation processes and identify areas for improvement Communicate between different warehouses and collaborate with leadership on critical issues impacting transportation productivity and workforce Oversee and manage all TN outbound transportation activities Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize operational efficiency and reduce cost Develop policies, programs, and procedures for efficient operation of transportation productivity and workforce Coordinate with carriers and 3PL to ensure timely delivery of goods to fulfill Customers Service Level Agreements Ensure all transportation activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies Partner with Procurement to lead bidding processes for Parcel, TL and LTL operations to reduce operational cost and improve service levels Partner with Order Management and Warehouse Operations to fulfill Customer operational requirements Review and approve carriers' monthly invoices value to assure alignment with monthly execution 3PL Management for Outbound Transportation Clearly communicate goals, service expectations, and performance metrics to the 3PL, including, delivery times, service levels, and process/procedures Share demand forecasts and trends to help the 3PL plan resources and inventory more effectively Provides resolution on escalated transportation issues to multiple business units Develop and discuss contingency plans for potential disruptions in the supply chain Establish key performance indicators (KPI) relevant to the 3PL provider’s operations, such as on time delivery rates, order accuracy, cost per shipment, and inventory turnover Review cost structure and identify opportunities for savings or efficiency improvements Negotiate rates and terms with the 3PL provider to ensure competitive pricing and value for money. Partner with the Customer Compliance team to evaluate on a daily/weekly and monthly basis customer compliance penalties to develop strategic and operational action plans with carriers to improve operational performance Continuous Improvement Serves as an objective point of view to suggest solutions and partner with senior management collectively to implement and execute solutions Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in transportation processes Drive continuous improvement and align with overall corporate policies Utilize analytical expertise to develop and manage key initiatives directed by Senior Management Develop and implement together with the IT organization reports and metrics to guarantee operational control of the transportation operation Experience & Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management/Logistics Experience Minimum 7 years Experience working with cross functional teams to-Leading process improvement initiatives in an operations environment; Experience working with large data sets and transcribing into meaningful information; Experience working with Transportation Companies-Managing TMS Operations Minimum 5 years Managing Transportation Operations Financials Software/Technical Skills TMS Excel SAP Additional Details for This Role This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by your manager. #LI-Hybrid Base Salary The targeted base salary range for this position if based in TN will be $90,000 - $105,000 per year. The targeted base salary range for this position if based in VA will be $95,000 - $110,000 per year. Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data. Additional Compensation This position is eligible for a 15% bonus at 100% of target, with the opportunity to achieve above 100% dependent on company performance and in alignment with company bonus plans. Bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon individual performance as well as Brother achieving its corporate objectives, in accordance with the applicable bonus plan in effect. About Where We Work Brother’s corporate headquarters for the Americas is in Bridgewater, NJ, across from the Bridgewater Commons Mall. This location houses key corporate functions, including HR, legal, finance, IT, and supply chain, and a significant presence of our business unit leadership and marketing teams. Our manufacturing and distribution facility in Bartlett, TN spans an impressive 1.5 million square feet - equivalent to 26 football fields - and is located on Brother Boulevard. In addition to the distribution center operations team, this facility hosts several other departments, including our customer service group. Brother also has employees based in other locations, such as Westminster, CO, where many of our marketing and product engineering team members from the mobile solutions division operate, as well as our distribution centers in Richmond, VA and Perris, CA.
