About the Team

The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) is a first line of defense group, centralized across the Enterprise with a Global Mandate to embed a culture of risk ownership and operational excellence by elevating the control environment and driving consistency and quality of risk practices to minimize loss and regulatory sanction, drive cost efficiencies, and accelerate execution to enable growth.

The Enterprise Control Testing (ECT) team serves as RBC's central control testing function, acting on behalf of the 1LOD (first line of defense) Control Owner, and is responsible for performing control assurance activities in accordance with RBC's Internal Controls Testing Policy and Standards (ICMP and ICMS).

We are seeking a skilled Manager, Data and Planning to support ECT's data and planning initiatives. This role will serve as a key contributor to data reporting and capacity planning, enabling ECT operations by supporting management functions, assisting testing teams and leaders, and collaborating with process and automation teams.

Working hours : 9.00AM - 6.00PM

What will you do?

Data Reporting & Oversight

  • Execute routine and ad-hoc management reporting to support oversight and decision-making.
  • Assist in preparing data for monthly business reviews, annual test planning, and ECT storytelling updates.
  • Conduct data quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting.
  • Support the production of value-add insights and reporting to enable the management function.
  • Support the maintenance of ECT data systems and infrastructure.
  • Execute data pulls and manage access to feeds in coordination with data owners (CDO, T&O).
  • Assist in building data feeds/connections into ECT data systems.
  • Manage day-to-day access and storage capacity for file storage infrastructure (e.g., SharePoint, shared drives).

Capacity Planning

  • Assist testing teams with capacity planning data and analysis.
  • Track productivity and capacity data to identify trends and leading indicators.
  • Provide tactical support for workforce planning, such as assessing the impact of volume changes and forecasting near-term testing needs.
  • Work with process and automation teams to implement process insights.
  • Support the design and implementation of strategies to improve resource deployment (e.g., cross-training analysis).
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of workflow tools (e.g., gathering requirements, designing queues).
  • Collaborate with other ECT teams to execute workforce optimization strategies.

The responsibilities outlined are non-exhaustive. The incumbent may be instructed to perform additional duties or support management initiatives from time to time, based on organizational urgency or resourcing requirements.

What do you need to succeed? 

Must-have 

  • Minimum 3-6 years work experience in relevant or complimentary capacities (e.g., data analysis, workforce planning, reporting)
  • Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Excel)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Experience with data management or capacity planning practices
  • Familiarity in operational risk management (first and/or second line of defense capacities) and/or experience working in an operations environment supporting multiple business units
  • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks, proposing solutions, and exercising sound and balanced judgement
  • Previous experience working in highly regulated business environments or financial services sector, in particular G-SIB or Canadian financial institution(s); preferred: Knowledge and/or experience working across different platforms and/or functional units of a diversified financial services firm, including exposure to multiple geographies
