Mainframe Modernization Architect

Role & responsibilities

• Meeting with technology managers and the design team to discuss the goals and needs of the company.
• Examining and defining current architecture systems.
• Designing scalable architecture systems for web applications.
• Identifying the hardware and software infrastructure needs to accommodate the companys architectural goals.
• Troubleshooting design flaws and system bottlenecks.
• Perform validation tests to ensure the flexibility and scalability of the Java environment.
• Assisting the software design team with application integration.
• Conducting system performance tests.
• In depth knowledge of key Cloud services (AWS managed and serverless is preferred).
• Proven experience assessing clients workloads and technology landscape for Cloud suitability, develop business case and Cloud adoption roadmap
• Proven knowledge of Cloud services and tools
• Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive project from architecture standpoint
• Knowledge of best practices and market trends pertaining to Cloud and overall industry to provide thought leadership (seminars, whitepapers etc.,) and mentor team to build necessary competency
• Ability to quickly establish credibility and trustworthiness with key stakeholders in client organization.
• Experience provisioning and spinning up Cloud services
• Experience to build scalable production systems (load balancers, Memcached, master/slave architectures)
• Knowledge on Cloud Analytical services and databases like redshift
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Certification for Cloud Solution Architect Professional & Associate

Preferred candidate profile

• Previous work experience as a software or Architect.
• Advanced knowledge of application architecture.
• Proficiency with Web based application frameworks.
• Experience with the design and implementation of software networks for secured connectivity.
• Experience with software design and web programming along with API development (web services).
• Ability to solve complex software system issues.
• Strong knowledge and hands on experience on Cloud services (AWS preferred)
• Detail understanding on cloud network architecture for better security and performance
• Data migration strategies and implementation experience
• CICD implementation experience
• AWS Blu Age L3 certification
• Hand-on experience on Refactor, Rehost, Rearchitect
• Mainframe Modernization Coding: Exposure to developing codes for in-place mainframe modernization and migration of mainframe applications to cloud platforms, including z-cloud.

• Technical Proficiency: Exposure to various technologies, such as COBOL systems, Java, JSON, API, Microservices, SaaS, Edge, Off-premises applications, network security, Kubernetes, DevOps, Db2, CICS, WebSphere, and MQ
• Cloud Migration Support: Experience working with mainframe migration to other cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to services.
