Mainframe Developer
Key Responsibilities:
- Development, enhancement, support & maintenance for application products.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Perform root-cause analysis for job failures, abends, and system issues.
- Build product knowledge and have clear understanding of the requirements. Collaborate with product manager to break features down to actionable user stories.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, engineering practices, and version control processes.
- Ensure adherence to established controls, policies, regulations, and other applicable non-functional requirements.
- Look for improvement opportunities beyond stated problems, evaluate options and propose solutions.
- Participate in Agile methodology (Kanban or Scrum) and related ceremonies, as applicable.
Technical Skills
Must Have:
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM and DB2.
- Solid understanding of DB2/SQL and ability to write & optimize queries.
- Experience with mainframe batch processing and scheduling tools such as CA7.
- Ability to debug mainframe applications using Xpeditor and Abend Aid.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with version control tools such as GitHub.
- Good understanding of abend analysis, including interpreting job SPOOLs and Abend-Aid reports.
- Should have good understanding of mainframe file system like VSAM, PS, GDG, etc.
Good to Have:
- Knowledge of CICS.
- Experience working with IBM z/OS Connect APIs.
