Mainframe Developer

Key Responsibilities:

• Development, enhancement, support & maintenance for application products.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Perform root-cause analysis for job failures, abends, and system issues.
• Build product knowledge and have clear understanding of the requirements. Collaborate with product manager to break features down to actionable user stories.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, engineering practices, and version control processes.
• Ensure adherence to established controls, policies, regulations, and other applicable non-functional requirements.
• Look for improvement opportunities beyond stated problems, evaluate options and propose solutions.
• Participate in Agile methodology (Kanban or Scrum) and related ceremonies, as applicable.

Technical Skills

Must Have:

1. Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM and DB2.
2. Solid understanding of DB2/SQL and ability to write & optimize queries.
3. Experience with mainframe batch processing and scheduling tools such as CA7.
4. Ability to debug mainframe applications using Xpeditor and Abend Aid.
5. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
6. Familiarity with version control tools such as GitHub.
7. Good understanding of abend analysis, including interpreting job SPOOLs and Abend-Aid reports.
8. Should have good understanding of mainframe file system like VSAM, PS, GDG, etc.

Good to Have:

1. Knowledge of CICS.
2. Experience working with IBM z/OS Connect APIs.
