Job Description:

Position Overview

The Director of Finance is a high-impact, strategic finance leader who serves as the primary financial partner to the Business Unit (BU) Presidents. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. This individual will be embedded within the business to drive financial rigor, support operating decisions, and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. The ideal candidate combines deep financial acumen with a business partner mindset — someone who is as comfortable in a board-level strategy conversation as they are building a financial model from scratch.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Strategic Support

  • Serve as the dedicated finance partner to multiple BU Presidents, providing financial counsel to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and operational execution.

  • Participate in BU leadership meetings, offering financial perspective on product strategy, go-to-market initiatives, pricing, and resource allocation.

  • Translate financial data into business narratives that enable BU leaders to make informed, timely decisions.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting for assigned business units, ensuring alignment with corporate financial targets.

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate business performance, scenario planning, and growth opportunities.

  • Provide variance analysis and communicate key financial drivers to BU Presidents and senior finance leadership.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Own the monthly and quarterly financial reporting cadence for assigned business units, including P&L management, KPI dashboards, and executive commentary.

  • Design and maintain management reporting frameworks that provide real-time visibility into BU performance.

  • Leverage insightsoftware's own platform and tools to enhance reporting efficiency and analytical depth.

Operational Finance

  • Partner with BU Presidents to manage headcount planning, cost optimization, and resource prioritization.

  • Support deal structuring, pricing analysis, and commercial reviews for key customer or partner agreements.

  • Identify financial risks and opportunities within the business and proactively surface recommendations to leadership.

M&A & Integration Support

  • Support financial due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities for BU-specific transactions.

  • Assist in onboarding acquired businesses into insightsoftware's financial processes and reporting structures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Accounting, FP&A, and Corporate Finance teams to ensure consistent financial processes and data integrity across the organization.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Product teams to model the financial impact of strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including a minimum of 3–5 years in an FP&A, finance business partner, or senior finance management role.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior business leaders (VP, President, or C-suite level) in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

  • Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to build, maintain, and communicate complex models clearly.

  • Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, and key SaaS or enterprise software metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, churn, etc.).

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to distill complex financial information for non-finance audiences.

  • High proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and FP&A tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in a private equity-backed software or SaaS company.

  • Familiarity with insightsoftware products or comparable financial reporting/EPM platforms.

  • Prior involvement in M&A due diligence or post-merger integration.

  • Experience operating across multiple business units or geographies simultaneously.
