Job Description

As a Staff Engineer in Data Platform Services team, you'll architect and lead the evolution of metadata services at the heart of our analytics platform: data contracts, the Data Product Catalog, data quality and observability frameworks, and data delivery/subscription systems. Analytics drives everything at Lytx—from collision prevention to driver coaching across 700,000 vehicles worldwide. You'll build the platform capabilities that enable domain teams to confidently deliver analytics-powered safety features at multi-tenant scale with low-latency delivery and enterprise-grade governance. You’ll Get To:

• Architect foundational services that power the entire platform — Design and operate the Registry, Catalog, Data Quality/Observability, and Delivery services that enable hundreds of data products across the organization
• Define the developer experience — Build contract-first APIs and libraries with bulletproof versioning and compatibility guarantees that make domain teams' lives easier and safer
• Own production excellence — Instrument services with comprehensive observability (metrics, logs, traces) and define SLOs that you'll actually meet, ensuring the platform our teams depend on stays rock-solid
• Multiply team velocity — Partner with domain teams to adopt data contracts, onboard to the catalog, and integrate quality frameworks—turning platform capabilities into accelerated feature delivery
• Shape engineering standards — Drive code quality through meaningful reviews, write documentation that developers actually want to read, and elevate team practices that scale
• Solve performance at scale — Profile and optimize systems handling multi-tenant workloads, balancing sub-second latency requirements with cost efficiency across 3,000+ clients
• Drive platform evolution — Author Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), champion harvested-platform patterns, and push the boundaries of what our infrastructure can enable
• Stay ahead of the curve — Evaluate emerging technologies in the data platform space and bring forward recommendations that give us competitive advantage

What You’ll Need:

• B.E/B Tech in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Enterprise software engineer experience with 10+ years’ building scalable back-end services and applications.
• Deep design experience in building highly scalable systems/applications in the cloud.
• Strong cloud experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) with IaC (Terraform, Helm).
• Expertise in building high scale distributed systems with technologies like Kafka.
• Expert knowledge of object-oriented design practices and enterprise patterns.
• Expert level knowledge C#, .NetCore
• Full stack developer knowledge with focus on the front end with Angular or similar web frameworks.
• Design and development experience with microservices, RESTful APIs.
• Expertise in data modelling and working with databases PostgreSQL, MongoDB.

• Ability to collaborate across numerous teams, document ideas, strategies and effectively communicate across teams.

• Passion for working across teams to drive engineering vision and best practices

• Desired experience with Data Platform Engineering services, schema registry, metadata/catalog systems (e.g., OpenMetadata), and data lineage.
