Lead Engineer
The Lead Electrical Custom Order Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day engineering activities to support the switchboard and panelboard product lines. The Engineering Electrical Lead is the primary contact for the Order Entry schedule and assignment of orders to the ECOE Team of engineers that create an engineering package (drawings and bills of materials) for the operation to be able to manufacture orders. This role will help to evaluate Electrical drawings per costumer specs and will lead the effort to standardize wiring procedures in the El Paso plant. This is a unique opportunity to lead an Engineering team and work very close with Engineering teams in the US. This role will be accountable for leading the effort to improve Engineering process and drive more efficiency as we ramp up volumes of customer orders. In this role you will make wiring improvements through collection and analysis of engineering data to increase safety, product quality, customer delivery and cost reductions. This role leads to cross-functional collaboration, ensures engineering excellence, and mentors a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions. In this position you will: Lead ECOE Engineering team and assist management in direct oversight of department's daily activities. Develop a staffing plan by identifying resource requirements, obtaining approval for changes, and coordinating the selection process with Human Resources. Support engineering function by providing directions to team members per Engineering spreadsheets, UL standards and NEC in interpreting complex customer requirements and translating them into manufacturable switchboard designs. Maintain and track order schedules and risks. Upgrade existing processes, deploy new initiatives, and recommend new solutions based on analysis and customer trends. Supervise quality of schematic drawings, BOMs and components. Demonstrate clear understanding of the full breadth of product line offering, including complex wiring and design applications to provide exceptional solutions selling support to field sales and/or channel partners. Interface with the Design Engineering dept as necessary for development of switchboard custom designs. Interface with Quality/Warranty Department to ensure continued post-shipment customer support. Support the Quality Dept through assisting in troubleshooting problems during electrical testing and developing test procedures. Experience troubleshooting control wiring devices following Industry standards and product specifications. Recommend design changes and tooling. Participate in product process design/prototypes reviews. Evaluate and verify wiring assemblies completed by peers. Coach and develop engineering talent; deliver technical training across departments. Proactively participate in cross functional teams in support of implementing lean manufacturing strategies, including front end business process improvement. Implement, promote and maintain a safe work environment by implementing a culture of zero accidents including prevention, investigation and application of rules. Identify, control and administer risk and danger in own area and engineering processes. Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in Low or Medium voltage Switchboard/Switchgear or Power distribution engineering experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience processing data center orders.
