Lead Capital Planning Analyst

Role Overview

The Lead Capital Planning Analyst plays a critical role in shaping enterprise capital strategy by leading monthly capital reporting, reallocation, and variance analysis. This position partners closely with senior, executive, and state-level leadership to deliver clear insights, recommendations, and scenario analysis that support strategic investment decisions. The role also oversees asset inventory prioritization and capital planning risk data, consolidates the annual capital plan, and provides regulatory, rate case, and ad hoc analytical support.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong analytical expertise, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, cross-functional capital reallocation and reporting processes; prepare and present results to senior and state-level leadership

  • Deliver monthly capital variance analysis with concise explanations and recommendations

  • Own asset inventory prioritization and/or capital planning risk software inputs, ensuring accurate data and risk scoring across all proposed capital investments

  • Lead consolidation of the annual capital plan, including financial analysis, scenario modeling, and development of leadership-facing materials

  • Perform capital portfolio scenario analysis and facilitate data-driven discussions with leadership to inform strategic decisions

  • Produce capital plan deliverables to support FP&A, regulatory filings, rate cases, and other key business needs

  • Partner with work planning and project controls teams to validate annual plan assumptions and forecasts

  • Track, manage, and respond to internal and external data requests in a timely manner

  • Independently lead ad hoc analyses and special projects as business needs arise

  • Train, coach, and mentor Analysts and Senior Analysts, providing technical guidance and leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7–9 years of advanced experience in Microsoft Excel (or equivalent tools), including complex data manipulation, integration, and reporting

  • 4–6 years of experience in financial planning, accounting, enterprise risk, or engineering-related financial analysis

  • 4–6 years of experience leading or project-managing cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong foundation in forecasting, annual planning, financial reporting principles, and best practices

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and communicate clearly at all levels of the organization

  • Proven leadership skills, including situational leadership, stakeholder influence, conflict resolution, and team development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing or reviewing project estimates, building capital budgets, and analyzing project schedules

  • Experience in large-scale industrial or infrastructure capital environments

  • Experience using capital planning and/or asset risk management software

Salary Range*:

$96,600.00 - $144,900.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
