Labour Relations Manager (m/w)
Role Summary
The Labour Relations Manager is the company’s lead expert on labour relations in Iberia responsible for shaping and executing the labour relations strategy, managing negotiations with unions and employee representatives, and ensuring full compliance with labour law. The role serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership while actively managing collective bargaining, labour conflicts, and labour-related risks.
Key Responsibilities
Labour Relations & Compliance
- Lead and manage relationships with Works Councils, Trade Unions, and employee representatives.
- Prepare, lead, and negotiate collective bargaining agreements and company-level accords.
- Act as the company’s main representative in collective negotiations, consultations, and formal labour processes.
- Manage collective labour procedures, including restructurings, organizational changes, and collective measures.
- Ensure full compliance with Spanish labour legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
- Coordinate with external labour lawyers and authorities as required.
- Manage labour inspections, collective disputes, and litigation in coordination with Legal.
- Identify labour risks and proactively design mitigation and contingency plans.
Employee Relations
- Anticipate, manage, and de-escalate labour conflicts to minimize business disruption.
- Act as escalation point for complex employee relations and disciplinary matters.
- Advise HR Business Partners and managers on sensitive labour relations issues.
- Promote a constructive labour climate through effective social dialogue.
Strategy, Governance & Advisory
- Define and implement labour relations governance, policies, and frameworks.
- Establish guidelines for union communications and employee representation practices.
- Advise senior leadership on labour relations strategy, risk, and decision-making.
- Support organizational transformation initiatives from a labour relations perspective.
- Act as a subject-matter expert and reference point for labour relations within HR.
- Provide training and guidance to HR teams and leaders on labour relations topics.
- Ensure consistency of labour relations practices across sites and business units.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Law.
- Lawyer authorized to exercise in Spain.
- 8–12+ years of experience in labour relations, in complex and unionized environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading collective bargaining and union negotiations in Spain.
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge of Spanish labour law and collective bargaining frameworks.
- Proven experience managing collective conflicts and sensitive negotiations.
- Experience managing multi-site or national Works Councils.
