Laboratory Technician

Oxford, Oxfordshire April 6, 2026 Full Time Peoplexd (Formerly Corehr)
We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Technician to support the technical and administrative running of our Multiomic Technology Platforms Group. You will help maintain smooth, high-quality laboratory operations by processing and tracking biological samples, carrying out quality control checks, managing stores, and keeping accurate records of equipment, maintenance, and lab activity. This role is key to ensuring our workflows run efficiently and safely.

You will be responsible for receiving, logging, and returning a wide range of biological samples, including DNA, RNA, plasma, and slides, following established procedures to make sure everything is traceable and handled correctly. You will run quality control checks using tools such as Qubit or Tapestation, support improvements to lab processes, and help diagnose and resolve technical issues when they arise. Your work will also involve managing stocks, preparing reports, keeping equipment maintained, and ensuring records and documentation remain up to date. Day to day, you will help with reagent distribution, basic protocol writing, and maintaining a clean and organised lab environment. You’ll also support colleagues by helping with inductions, passing on practical knowledge, and assisting with routine training when needed.

It is essential that you are educated to at least A-level (or equivalent) in a science subject and have experience working in a laboratory environment. You should be comfortable handling hazardous chemicals and able to troubleshoot practical issues with experiments. Strong attention to detail is key, along with the ability to organise samples, record results clearly, and follow procedures with consistency. You will need good IT skills, including experience with Word, Excel, and other basic software. You should also be confident managing your own workload, taking initiative when needed, and working safely in line with laboratory regulations and health-and-safety requirements.
