What you will do
- Responsible for the scheduling of raw and packaging materials by converting the output of the Detailed Scheduler into daily / weekly material requirements to ensure availability of the right quantity of components to the production lines when needed.
- Ensure that all material delivery schedules are communicated to the suppliers on time in order to meet plan requirements. Liaises with the Suppliers to clarify potential plan constraints and interfaces between supplier and key internal stakeholders until issues are resolved.
- Expedite operation that delays schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions due to material challenges.
- Liaise with Warehouse staff to understand and adhere to space constraints, managing inventory levels within agreed targets.
- Coordinate production planning activities to ensure correct investment in raw packaging and bulk materials, work in process, and fully finished inventories necessary to facilitate optimum production, inventory and customer service objectives.
- Provide expert professional services to all divisions to assume awareness of vital information e.g. Overload schedules, capacity shortages /surpluses, stock shortages and production constraints.
- Manages required portfolio to ensure customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Synchronize capacity plan with the Master Production Schedule by maintaining close liaison with the Master Scheduler, Production, Purchasing and QA/QC personnel.
- Release schedules timeously to production in order to meet start due dates as required by the Master Production Schedule, and thereafter, validate open order files continuously.
- Maintains constant workload in Production Departments in conjunction with Purchasing, Production and QA.
- Ensure priority planning given to new products and back order requirements.
- Reviews, checks and reports on all materials issues relating to the weekly / monthly production plan.
- Priorities expedite materials through Receiving and QA which are urgently required for Production requirements.
- Liaises with Purchasing on part or late deliveries of material thereby facilitating the correct timing of an order and ensuring balanced receipt on inventory.
- Provides inputs to the ‘Working liquid /solids plan’ and update as schedules are issued and completed.
- Reviews open SO’s on a weekly basis and actions as appropriate.
- Responsible for all export permit applications including managing the process.
- Claims for damages from Clearing Agents and Suppliers
- Master Data Management (BPCS, OMP, SAP, CRD)
- Forward Monthly Under & Over Accruals Report to Finance
- Ariba – Processing of New Orders and management of Invoice payment
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 with 2 – 5 years proven experience in a Pharmaceutical /FMCG manufacturing environment with purchasing experience preferable.
- APICS or Supply Chain Certification would be advantageous –preferably with courses including Production Planning, Purchasing or Supply Chain management.
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) certification is preferable.
- Understanding of purchasing/planning process & experience in working with ERP systems
- Demonstrate initiative and lateral thinking to solve problems.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
