Journeyman Electrician
Description: The Journeyman Electrician reads, understands and interprets blueprints, drawings, floor plans, schedules and manufacturers operating and/or maintenance specifications as they relate to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and special equipment, building structures and finishes. Typical Duties: Performs routine and preventive maintenance, and performs repairs, modifications, replacements and installations of fixed and portable electronic equipment and systems to include communications systems, security systems, fire detection and alarm system, audio/visual equipment, computers, HVAC controls, solid state relays, DDC and PLC Controllers, electronic testing equipment, nurse call systems, and other similar equipment. Performs routine and preventive maintenance, and performs repairs, modifications, replacements and installations of high voltage electrical and emergency equipment and systems to include electrical switchgear, transformers, primary electric and substation equipment, electric motors, emergency generators, emergency lighting systems, and other similar type equipment. Performs routine and preventive maintenance, and performs repairs, modifications, replacements and installations of electrical equipment and systems to include wiring, conduit, junction boxes, relays, switches, starters, receptacles, breakers, panel boxes, fixtures, disconnects, motor control centers, lighting systems, major and minor appliances, electrically powered tools and equipment, battery and DC systems, and other similar type equipment. Responds to requests for maintenance and service from building occupants to include: emergencies, maintenance problems, requested installations, modifications, repairs and adjustments, and other similar tasks. May be called upon to perform the work of other maintenance personnel or to assist in the completion of their work. Performs other duties as assigned.
