Job Overview
IT Infrastructure Project Coordinator, University Information Services (UIS) - Georgetown University. This position provides operational and technical support for the integration of IT systems within University construction and renovation projects. The Coordinator serves as the primary on-site technical point of contact, ensuring that low-voltage cabling, hardware installation, and equipment room readiness meet University standards.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting daily site walkthroughs to monitor the progress of IT-related construction tasks.
- Verifying that low-voltage cabling and infrastructure installations match approved shop drawings.
- Coordinating the delivery and inventory of IT hardware (switches, APs, UPS) to construction sites.
- Assisting in the documentation of "as-built" drawings and system certifications.
- Facilitating communication between the IT Program Manager and on-site trade contractors
Work Interactions
This position reports to the Program Manager, IT Construction and Renovation. The Coordinator interacts daily with general contractors, electricians, and UIS technical teams to resolve immediate field issues. By maintaining high-quality standards during implementation, this role supports the department's goal of delivering reliable, move-in-ready technology environments for the Georgetown community.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Associate’s degree or vocational certification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Practical Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in low-voltage cabling, IT field services, or construction coordination.
- Technical Qualifications: Hands-on knowledge of copper/fiber testing equipment and ability to read basic floor plans.
- Preferred: BICSI Installer certification or CompTIA Network+.
