The Assignment
Due to our growth in the digital space at Thermo Fisher Scientific we are looking to add an intern to the DSE service team, to deal with IT and infrastructure related matters.
Our internship program will give engineering students an opportunity to get real world business experience in a service environment and build your network before graduation. We are seeking an upbeat, responsible intern to join our growing organization. In this position, you will contribute to improving Worldwide product serviceability, learn how our organization runs and will gain valuable insight that can further enhance your curiosity about your chosen career field.
In this position in the MSD division you will work close together with the support organization to ensure a smooth introduction, delivery and support of our digital solutions and services. You will be part of the DSE team and the goal of the assignment is to decrease the delivery and update time of our IT solutions.
Specific work associated with this position include:
- Problem analysis by Collecting SMART requirements from key collaborators
- Software Development of Scripting tool
- Scalability, planning and regular alignment with stakeholders
- Solution documentation in PDF available
- Service Introduction plan creation
- Further develop and build on current available automated tests
- Engage with the development and operations organization to provide recommendations to manuals, training and customer facing material.
- Perform automated deployments through the use of configuration management technology
The Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
- A bachelor student in IT Computer Science or a technical / SW field
- Proficient in English (verbal and in writing)
- Fundamental understanding about network technologies including firewalls, content filters, routing/switching, VLANs
- Familiar with virtualization technologies like VMWare/KVM infrastructure, monitoring tools and Linux, Kubernetes, Ansible and Docker
- Knowledge about: Automation and Scripting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical approaches.
- Motivated to develop a career in a constantly evolving and highly technical environment.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a global team
- Ability to learn, be mentored and tech other specialists about technology in areas of expertise
