We are looking for detail-oriented, organized, and responsible individuals who are eager to apply causal-inference techniques to business-relevant engineering problems.

These are full-time positions at 40 hours per week, with compensation awarded on an hourly basis. You will learn how to apply theoretical econometrics techniques to real-world problems and collaborate with economists, scientists, and product managers. These skills will translate well into writing applied chapters in your dissertation and provide you with work experience that may help with placement.

Key job responsibilities
Well versed with power analysis in experimentation so that they can quickly apply them to our our problem space.

About the team
Central Latency own the latency program for Stores and are responsible for:

Vision: Setting a long-term architecture plan to reduce latency
Goals: establishing Store-wide latency goals
Guardrails: monitoring customer latency with automated tooling
Science: understand the impact of latency

Basic Qualifications

- PhD student in Economics (enrolled in 3rd year or more and not currently on the job market)

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with SQL
- Experience working with large, complex data sets
- Knowledge of statistical or econometric modeling
- Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Python scripting language
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience in Database like NoSQL
