57 years overall experience, with 2+ years hands-on in IBM Sterling OMS implementations/support.

Job Summary

We are seeking an IBM Sterling OMS Developer/Technical Consultant to design, configure, extend, and integrate Sterling OMS across the order lifecycle—from order capture to fulfillment, shipment, and returns. The role involves OMS configuration, custom development, integrations with enterprise systems, and production support in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities


  • Configure and customize IBM Sterling OMS to support order orchestration, sourcing, fulfillment, returns, and exceptions.
  • Develop and maintain extensions/customizations (user exits, custom APIs/services, event handlers, pipelines/workflows as applicable).
  • Build and support integrations with ERP/WMS/TMS/POS/eCommerce platforms using REST/SOAP APIs, messaging (e.g., IBM MQ/Kafka), and file-based interfaces.
  • Work on OMS components such as:
    • Order Capture/Modification/Cancel
    • Promising/Sourcing
    • Inventory visibility & availability
    • Shipments, returns, and reverse logistics
    • Exception handling and orchestration rules
  • Analyze requirements and translate them into technical designs, configuration specifications, and development tasks.
  • Troubleshoot production issues (logs, DB queries, integration failures), provide RCA, and implement fixes.
  • Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and release deployments (CI/CD preferred).
  • Create technical documentation: configuration, interface specs, runbooks, SOPs.

Required Skills & Experience

Sterling OMS (Core)

They need to have right knowledge (RTAM, GIV, etc) and skillets of core development or implementation of OMS modules on IBM Sterling.

  • Experience working on order management lifecycle and OMS configuration/customization.
  • Knowledge of OMS concepts: order orchestration, sourcing, inventory, fulfillment, returns, ATP/availability concepts (implementation-specific).

Technical

  • Strong Java/J2EE fundamentals (if development role).
  • Hands-on with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML, Postman, API testing.
  • Working knowledge of SQL (querying, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with application servers and deployments (e.g., WebSphere/Liberty/Tomcat depending on stack).
  • Understanding of integration patterns (sync/async), retries, idempotency, error handling.

Process & Ways of Working

  • Agile/Scrum experience, Jira/Confluence.
  • Good communication skills; able to work with business, QA, and DevOps teams.
