HR Business Generalist
Position Summary
The HR Generalist serves as the primary point of contact for all human resources matters within the organization. This role manages the full employee life cycle from recruiting and onboarding through performance management, employee relations, and offboarding while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist carries both administrative and strategic responsibilities, supporting organizational leadership in planning and executing key HR functions. This role is based in our Santa Monica, CA office, full-time and will adhere to east coast working hours.Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the HR function by communicating and supporting philosophies, processes, policies, and capabilities to business unit staff employees and managers
- Under direction of Senior Business Generalists, provide daily hands-on support to the business in the areas of employee relations, recruiting and on-boarding, employee development, training, compensation, organizational development, benefits, performance management.
- Serve as the point person for assigned business unit employees at the mid-level career point (VP’s & Directors) on all human capital matters
- Monitor business unit compliance with internal human capital policies and procedures and legislation
- Work with the Sr. Business Generalists and the business unit managers in resource planning including: recruiting, organizational design, job evaluation and definition and helping to facilitate the performance appraisal, development, advancement within the business and staff functions
- Support in handling employee relations issues for assigned employee population, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions and improvement, and exit strategies
- Check-ins with new employees; and coaching managers/providing resources
- Research and resolve daily employee HR inquiries
- Ensure Workday is used to its full potential and that data is accurately entered
- Manage Projects as required (e.g. California Parking Cash-Out Program and Santa Monica Emissions Reduction Plan
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications;
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Sociology or related field
- 7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
- Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Familiarity with HRIS platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Employee Relations
- HR Certification such as a PHR or SHRM-CP
- Workday experience

Salary Range
Annual base salary between
$120,000.00-$140,000.00The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
