About the Position

Main assignments, responsibilities and authorities

1. Corporate Governance & Global Compliance Coordination

  • Legal Representative Duties: Act as the legal representative in China, managing matters with government, legal, and regulatory agencies to ensure operational legality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operational activities (taxation, labor, foreign exchange, import/export, EHS, and licensing) comply with both national regulations and global corporate policies (e.g., Anti-Corruption, Data Privacy, Trade Controls).
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential legal and commercial risks in China operations. Establish and improve internal control systems to safeguard the company image and reputation, following the directive from group legal and compliance.
  • Government Relations & Industry Engagement: Maintain and expand strong relationships with government authorities and industry associations. Actively participate in shaping industry standards to foster a favorable business environment.

2. Business strategy execution and management

  • Strategy Formulation & Execution: Develop localized business strategies and business plans aligned with the global and divisional strategy.
  • Performance Target Achievement: Assume full responsibility for business and operations in China market. Drive sales growth, optimize cost structures, and ensure achievement of revenue and profit targets.
  • Market expansion: lead the business team to explore new markets and business opportunities, enhancing the market share and future growth.
  • Customer & Partner Relations: Maintain key customer relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction, and explore strategic alliances with local partners (e.g., OEMs, tech partners).

3. Site and operation responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for safety management of the site. Uphold the "Safety First" principle by establishing and enforcing a robust EHS management system that meets global safety standards.
  • Plant Operation: work with operation team to ensure maximum efficiency, quality and on-time delivery, enhancing supply chain resilience and cost-effectiveness, and secure customer satisfaction. Drive lean manufacturing, automation upgrades, ensuring local capabilities align with global best practices.
  • Environmental Responsibility & Sustainability: Ensure plant operations meet environmental standards and promote green manufacturing and energy-saving projects in support of the group's goals.

4. Organization, Team & Talent Development

  • Lead and further develop the core China management team, secure a high performing and corporative team culture.
  • Organizational Development: Shape a corporate culture that aligns with group values while incorporating local characteristics, enhancing team cohesion, execution, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain close communication with key stakeholders (e.g., divisions and corporate functions, group management) to ensure the China team effectively supports local business while adhering to global strategies and standards.
  • Talent Cultivation: Develop solid talent pipeline, create a working environment and culture which attract and motivate high-potential talents.  

Knowledge, capabilities and motivation

  • Strategic thinking: Sharp commercial insight and management skills; capable of formulating and executing localized business plans aligned with global strategy. Ability to balance long-term vision with short-term business needs, proactively identifying key priorities within complex environments.
  • Operation capabilities: Experienced in leading and managing manufacturing, supply chain, site management, familiar with EHS related topics.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent cross-cultural and functional communication and management skills; effectively coordinate resources across borders to drive efficient collaboration.
  • Leadership: Proficient in people management, team building and change management; possesses strong charisma and influence to lead the organization toward continuous development.
  • Interpersonal skills: good listener and actively providing feedback; Fosters open communication, trust and respect for environment with a high degree of integrity. 

Qualifications & experience

  • Education: BS/MS degree or above from in business administration, engineering/material science or a related field; MBA or related advanced degree is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of general management experience, preferably being a member of a management team with experience of working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of working in multi-cultural environment
  • Good command of English
