This is a permanent part-time role (0.5 FTE / 18.75 hours a week) based at our Auckland CBD campus. 

About the Role:

Are you a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse passionate about shaping the future of healthcare? Join us as a Hauora Māori Kaiako - Nursing and play a pivotal role in empowering the next generation of nurses. In this role, you’ll deliver engaging, culturally responsive education within the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5) programme. 

You’ll integrate Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, Kawa Whakaruruhau, and health equity into every aspect of teaching. Using models such as the Hui Process and Meihana Model, you’ll help students develop the skills and cultural intelligence to provide exceptional care. This role is about fostering an inclusive, affirming environment where Māori and Pacific students thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver inspiring, ākonga-centered teaching that brings Hauora Māori and Pacific health models to life. 

  • Use innovative teaching methods, including blended learning, case-based, and simulation-enhanced learning. 

  • Support students in applying culturally responsive frameworks such as Hui Process, Meihana Model, and Kawa Whakaruruhau. 

  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, including marae-based education and wānanga. 

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and timely feedback to foster student success. 

  • Contribute to curriculum development to ensure cultural competence and alignment with healthcare standards. 

  • Work with Hanz team to engage with Māori and Pacific communities and stakeholders to maintain programme relevance and impact. 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Current NZ Nursing Council registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse. 

  • You are a passionate educator who has a deep understating of Hauora Māori models, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and health equity principles, with a commitment to advancing Māori health. 

  • Recent clinical experience and a passion for education. 

  • Has a strong knowledge of tikanga, te reo Māori, and culturally appropriate communication, and are eager to share this knowledge with akonga and faculty. 

  • Passionate for empowering ākonga to become confident, culturally competent healthcare professionals who can make a real impact. 

  • Possesses outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and thrives in collaborative environments, working with diverse stakeholders. 

  • Is adaptable, open to new ideas, and committed to ongoing professional development.
