About the Role
Wamoo is seeking a Growth & Business Development Associate to support user acquisition, early growth, and market expansion in Uganda. This is a hands-on role for someone who can help convert market interest into user growth.
The successful candidate will help Wamoo grow by identifying and implementing effective ways to attract users, improve activation, test new growth channels, and strengthen retention. While partnerships and group-based distribution are important, this role is broader in scope and also includes direct user acquisition, field-based growth activities, campaign execution, and market feedback.
This role is suited to someone who is practical, commercially strong, and comfortable working in an early-stage company.

This includes:
Tenders in Uganda
identifying effective ways to reach new users
converting interest into sign-ups and first deposits
improving activation and early retention
testing and refining growth initiatives
gathering market feedback to inform product and business decisions
Key Responsibilities
User Acquisition and Growth
Identify and implement practical strategies to acquire new users across priority market segments
Support local growth initiatives through community outreach, field activations, events, campaigns, and other relevant channels
Help design and roll out referral programmes, savings challenges, incentive-led campaigns, and other user acquisition activities
Build and manage a pipeline of growth opportunities, including both individual and group-based channels
Convert awareness and interest into active users
Partnerships and Distribution
Identify and support partnerships that can contribute to user growth and market reach
Engage with SACCOs, cooperatives, savings groups, associations, employers, and other relevant channels where appropriate
Support the onboarding and activation of new partners
Explore and develop additional routes to market that can contribute to early user growth
Activation and Retention
Monitor the user journey from sign-up through first deposit and early engagement
Support efforts to improve onboarding and reduce drop-off in the early stages of the user experience
Follow up with users, groups, and partners to encourage activation and repeat engagement
Identify barriers to conversion or retention and work with internal teams to address them
Contribute to activities that strengthen ongoing engagement and user confidence in the product
Market Feedback and Internal Coordination
Gather feedback from users, communities, and partners to identify areas for improvement
Share market insight to support decisions related to product features, messaging, pricing, onboarding, and incentives
Work closely with Product and Marketing to improve execution and strengthen market fit
Performance Tracking and Reporting
Track and report on key growth metrics, including lead generation, sign-ups, activation, first deposits, engagement, and retention
Maintain clear weekly updates on performance, lessons learned, and recommended actions
Use data and field learning to improve growth strategies over time
Requirements
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Communications, or a related field
2–4 years of experience in growth, business development, partnerships, sales, field marketing, fintech, community activation, or a related role
Demonstrated ability to support user acquisition, commercial growth, or market expansion
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
Comfort engaging directly with customers, communities, and field-based stakeholders
Familiarity with digital financial services, mobile money, or community-based financial ecosystems
Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, team communication platforms such as Slack, CRM or pipeline management systems such as Salesforce or similar tools, and reporting or data analysis tools
Preferred
Experience supporting the launch or growth of a consumer-facing product
Familiarity with community-led growth, field activations, or referral-based campaigns
Working knowledge of KYC, AML, consumer protection, or related regulatory considerations in Uganda
Local language proficiency
