How you create impact

Our programme comprises of several rotational placements to provide the breadth of skills development & experience to support your journey towards a future leadership position in our Sea Logistics team.

Placement 1 – Import Customer Care – Liverpool or Birmingham (6 months) 

Placement 2 - Trade & Pricing - Birmingham (3 months) 

Placement 3 – Operational Finance - Birmingham (3 months)

Placement 4 – On-site at Customer, location TBA (3 months)

Placement 5 – On-site at supplier, location TBA (3months) 

You will begin your journey in one of our Import Customer Care Locations managing customers Import shipments, liaising with KN overseas network, suppliers, and internal customers. You will develop your financial and commercial skills, and an understanding of what makes KN the number one Sea Logistics provider.

After developing an understanding of the Import processes, you will take on a placement within our Trade and Pricing team to further develop commercial awareness before transferring into Operational finance to put those learnings into practical application.

Finally, we also offer placements within one of our key Customers and Suppliers to gain valuable insights from their perspectives and how Kuehne+Nagel becomes a trusted business partner.

The placements are designed to give you a broad knowledge of Sea Logistics, during all placements you will learn how to use all our internal systems and how they interlink as well as experience in how we manage the business day-to-day. 

We will engage with you during your programme to discuss the different routes available after completion of your programme, and where your strengths are well suited.

What we would like you to bring

Logistics is a complex and fast-paced environment, so people who enjoy challenge and problem-solving would thrive in this environment. You need to be able to work well with others, be confident to deal with customers and other third parties, but also have an eye for detail and organisation skills. We’re looking for raw talent rather than prior knowledge, but we want to see that you’re interested in the Logistics industry and where it could take you.   

In addition, we value candidates who are passionate about providing excellent customer service, have a strong work ethic, and are able to communicate effectively with others. Good planning and organization skills is important and you will need the ability to multitask and be a self-starter.

• A 2:2 degree qualification (achieved or expected) and 5 GCSEs Grade A-C including Maths & English 
• You must be able to travel in the UK and abroad to support events & for your international placement
• A full UK driving licence (or will have one by start date) & access to transport

Key Information:

• Graduate Contract:  Sept 2026  – Sept 2028  
• Working hours: Monday – Friday, 7.5 hours per day (08:30 – 17:00)

Recruitment Process: 

Step 1: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Step 2: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a telephone screening call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the business and for us to understand why you are interested in the programme and what you feel you can bring to the business.

Step 3: A final shortlist of candidates will be invited to an assessment centre onsite where you will meet several members of the hiring team

Step 4: All candidates will receive telephone feedback after the assessment centre and if offered will be invited to return to the office for a further site tour and to provide right to work documentation.
