Role Overview
The Global Knowledge Solutions (GKS) team enables science-driven innovation across ITQ.
We are seeking a mechanically strong, mathematically rigorous engineer to apply advanced modeling and simulation methodologies to complex food design and processing challenges.
This role sits within ITQ’s Nutrition, Technology & Science (NTS) organization and focuses on developing next-generation process and product solutions through physics-based modeling, hybrid simulation, and experimentation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Excellence (70%)
Apply mechanical engineering fundamentals to analyze food processing systems
Use physics-based and data-driven modeling tools (CFD, CAE, ML) to solve complex engineering problems
Apply fluid mechanics, heat & mass transfer, solid mechanics, process dynamics, and control principles
Develop hybrid modeling approaches (multiphysics + ML)
Integrate cross-disciplinary tools (Python, PLCs, CAD, vision systems, etc.)
Design and execute experiments to validate models and support scale-up/scale-down
Deliver simulation-driven insights that improve process efficiency and product quality
Business Partnership (15%)
Translate stakeholder needs into clear project objectives and execution plans
Deliver timely updates and high-impact technical solutions
Innovation & Development (10%)
Advance modeling and simulation capabilities
Apply continuous improvement mindset
Stay current with emerging engineering and simulation technologies
Administration (5%)
Complete required trainings and organizational responsibilities
Qualifications
Education:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years relevant experience
Core Skills:
Strong mechanistic and physics-based modeling expertise
Proficiency in CAD and CFD tools
Experience with CAE, simulation, and data-driven methods
Programming exposure (e.g., Python, VBA)
Strong experimental design and model validation experience
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Proven ability to manage multiple technical projects
Preferred
Experience in Food or CPG industry
Industrial internship experience
Demonstrated record of scientific excellence and innovation
