Engineering Field Operations Coordinator
Summary
This position is responsible for assisting in the administration and management public works construction for Capital Improvement and Private Development Projects as well as other departmental operational functions to ensure compliance with City ordinances, engineering standard practices, and all regulatory requirements. This role is integral to the success of Capital Improvement and Private Development Projects throughout the City of Garland.
Pay Range: $ 77,563.20 - 100,848.80 (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Administer infrastructure Capital Improvement Projects by being actively involved in the contractor bidding process, review of construction plans and specifications, review and processing of change orders, invoices and submittals, track and archive project documentation.
Administer Private Development Projects by tracking and archiving project documentations, prepare and lead construction meetings, review submittals to meet specifications.
Manage departmental asset inventory and maintenance records.
Review and approve expenditures for Engineering Department for outside consulting engineers and other professional services.
Authorize and approve department purchases within the operating budget.
Assist with the ROW Management Program by meeting with citizens and contractors to discuss concerns and questions.
Respond to citizens’ questions and concerns or refer to appropriate contact.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 5 years related experience
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering
7 to10 years experience in public works construction and supervising and/or administering major projects with progressing levels of responsibility
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive knowledge of Public Works construction means and methods
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of construction scheduling and cost control as applicable to the City
Comprehensive knowledge of design principles for Public Works
Comprehensive knowledge of construction management principles
Comprehensive knowledge of City, State and Federal ordinances and laws Skills in Microsoft 365 Skill in technical problem solving Skill performing basic drafting for preparation of sketches and layouts Ability to receive general guidance and translate it into specific actions Ability to work effectively with people Ability to communicate accurately and concisely
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Class C Texas driver's license
