Hosting Architect
Job Overview:
The Hosting Architect will lead Fortrea’s enterprise transition from on premises datacenters to Hyperscaler, delivering a modern, resilient, and automated hosting platform that accelerates application delivery and business innovation. This role owns the target state Azure and hybrid hosting architecture, governs large scale cloud migration, and modernizes operations through automation, Infrastructure as Code, and AI driven operations. The objective is to increase speed to market, reduce operational friction, improve resiliency, and lower total cost of ownership. This is a hands-on senior architecture role with accountability for measurable business and operational outcomes, operating in a regulated enterprise environment.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Cloud Migration & Hybrid Architecture
- Define and own Fortrea’s target‑state Cloud hosting architecture aligned to business and technology strategy.
- Design and govern hybrid architectures during phased migration from on‑premises to Cloud.
- Lead workload migration strategies (rehost, re‑platform, refactor, retire) to balance speed, risk, and value.
- Act as the architectural authority for hosting and Cloud migration decisions.
Cloud Platform & Cloud‑Native Enablement
- Architect Cloud platforms including landing zones, identity, networking, security, HA, and DR.
- Establish standardised Cloud reference architectures and blueprints to accelerate application onboarding.
- Enable self‑service, repeatable platforms that reduce delivery lead time for application and product teams.
- Drive adoption of cloud‑native services to simplify operations and improve scalability and cost efficiency.
Automation, IaC & AI‑Led Operations
- Implement an automation‑first operating model across hybrid and Cloud environments.
- Build and govern Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform, ARM/Bicep, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
- Introduce AIOps and intelligent automation for predictive monitoring, self‑healing, and faster incident resolution.
- Reduce environment provisioning time, manual effort, and operational cost through standardisation and automation.
Operational Excellence, Resilience & Governance
- Embed resiliency, observability, and reliability engineering into all hosting designs.
- Improve platform availability, reduce incidents, and optimise recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).
- Ensure hosting platforms meet security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide architectural leadership across infrastructure, application, security, and compliance teams.
Value & Outcomes
The Hosting Architect is accountable for delivering:
- Faster and safer Cloud migration at enterprise scale.
- Reduced time‑to‑provision and change lead times for applications.
- Improved platform reliability, availability, and recovery performance.
- Measurable reduction in hosting OPEX through automation and cloud optimisation.
- Hosting platforms that accelerate business capability delivery, not constrain it.
Qualifications (Minimum Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to present complex architectural concepts to senior leadership, technical teams, and non‑technical stakeholders.
Required skills (Minimum Required):
Core Experience
- 10+ years in hosting, infrastructure, or cloud architecture roles.
- Proven leadership of large‑scale Cloud migration programs.
- Strong foundation in enterprise datacentre technologies and hybrid architectures.
Cloud & Cloud Expertise
- Deep hands‑on experience with Cloud compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
- Experience designing hybrid connectivity and phased migration strategies.
- Cloud architecture and/or security certifications preferred.
Automation & AI
- Strong experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code and scripting.
- Exposure to AIOps or intelligent automation platforms.
- Demonstrated success in reducing operational effort and cost through automation.
Professional Skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑influencing skills.
- Comfortable operating in complex, regulated enterprise environments.
- Outcome‑driven mindset with a focus on business value and execution speed.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
