School-Based Traineeship

School-Based Traineeship

We offer paid two-year school-based traineeships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students in Years 11 and 12. Trainees work in various business areas, such as administration, customer service, engineering, ground operations, freight, and regional airlines.

Trainees work one day a week with Qantas (additional days during school holidays), earn a nationally recognised Certificate II/III qualification, and receive support from their Qantas supervisor, colleagues, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs team.

University Internships

University Internships

Are you pursuing an undergraduate degree? Join our University internship program at Qantas in partnership with CareerTrackers, where interns across Australia gain hands-on experience in operations, human resources, engineering, sales, finance, and regional airlines.

Our internship program allows students to apply their academic knowledge in practical settings, earn income, qualify for Work Integrated Learning (WIL) university credits, and receive support from Qantas supervisors, colleagues, and our First Nations Engagement team.

Our engineering apprenticeships offer an exciting opportunity to become a qualified and highly trained tradesperson, specialising in aircraft maintenance or other trades.

Based at our Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Canberra airport maintenance facilities, apprentices train and gain experience in a world-class organisation with first-class facilities.

Our Graduate Program offers a unique, two-year accelerated career start and development path for recent university graduates. There are two intakes per year, one in August and one in February. National Reconciliation Week

At Qantas we are committed to advancing national reconciliation. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC celebrations are held around Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Qantas is proud to be a Gold Sponsor of National NAIDOC Week and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Qantas Group celebrates NAIDOC week throughout Australia at its work locations with smoking ceremonies, welcome to countries, native food tasting, BBQs, and cultural performers. We encourage our staff to attend NAIDOC celebrations within their communities across Australia.
