Internship positions may include competitive hourly pay, hands-on industry experience, mentorship from experienced leaders, and exposure to professional projects in agribusiness operations. Students seeking academic credit are welcome. The company is willing to coordinate with the student’s college or university and complete any required paperwork to facilitate academic credit.


The Finance Intern will support the Finance Department of an agricultural company by assisting with budgeting processes, financial forecasting, and operational data analysis. This internship provides hands-on experience working with production budgets, seasonal cash flow projections, capital planning, and performance analytics within a dynamic agribusiness environment.

The intern will collaborate with finance, accounting, and operations teams to collect and analyze financial and operational data, helping leadership make informed decisions. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Agribusiness, or a related field with an interest in financial planning and agricultural operations.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Support tracking of actual expenses against budgeted amounts.
  2. Help analyze budget variances and prepare summary explanations.
  3. Identify trends, cost drivers, and performance indicators.
  4. Assist in developing dashboards or management reports.
  5. Support short-term and long-term financial forecasting initiatives.
  6. Create charts, graphs, and visualizations for leadership review.
  7. Assist in M&A projects for future growth

 

Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, financial modeling).
  • Basic understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement analysis.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g. Tableau preferred)
  • Strong quantitative reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and accounting teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Interest in agribusiness economics and data-driven decision-making.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position requires no supervisory responsibility.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and, in some cases, from a remote offsite location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

The position is primarily sedentary and requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position requires good manual dexterity and coordination with the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an internship position designed for the summer semester, 10-12 weeks is the expected duration. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Director of Financial Planning; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Expected Education and Experience

  1. Customer Service experience
  2. Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals
  3. Ability to solve practical industry related problems.
  4. Professional or educational experience in business, accounting/finance or analytics.
  5. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
Hourly Pay Range
$15$20 USD
