About the Role
The Compliance Associate will support public-facing compliance activities across the organization. In this role, you will contribute to compliance oversight by reviewing and assessing external-facing materials and communications, supporting the management of third-party agreements and engagements, and assisting with the escalation and resolution of inquiries and complaints. You will serve as a key compliance partner to designated teams, promoting adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards. The position requires a strong understanding of Canadian laws relating to competition, drug advertising, consumer protection, anti-spam, privacy, health, and their applications.
Responsibilities
Review marketing materials (including creative assets, copy, out-of-home campaigns, email content, social posts, and more) for compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and regulator guidance, providing compliant alternatives as needed
Assist in the compliance-related components of 3rd party engagement management
Assist on customer escalations and support resolution processes
Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, customer experience, marketing, and product teams on compliance matters
Assist with regulator communication and responses, as needed
Conduct initial legal research
Create clear, accessible, compliance documentation to assist non-compliance team members in understanding and applying concepts
Support other ad hoc compliance activities
Requirements
Completion of relevant post-secondary education
Familiarity with relevant roles and technologies, including Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Notion, and Claude (or similar AI tools)
Exceptional analytical and decision-making abilities
Strong organizational and planning skills
Excellent English language written skills and keen attention to detail, including ability to create, edit, and proofread technical legal documents
Comfort with ambiguity, an ability to create clarity within grey areas, and an eagerness to problem solve and build a strong compliance program
Assets
1+ years of experience in a customer-facing, legal or compliance role
1+ years of experience with Canadian advertising laws in a highly regulated environment
French language proficiency
Education in a legal or policy-related field
Completion of IAPP’s CIPP/C or equivalent with a focus on privacy and AI
Experience communicating or collaborating with Canadian regulatory bodies (e.g. Ad Standards Canada, Health Canada, Office of the Privacy Commissioner)
