We are looking for a Facilities Automation Engineer who is proactive, solution-oriented, and digitally minded to join our Automation team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium.

Note that 3 roles are now open : 1 specialized in PCS7 (system engineer), 1 in Aveva SP (facilities engineer)  and 1 for both (alarm engineer).

 

About the role

You are going to support, maintain, and evolve automated facilities systems across UCB’s Belgian sites. You will act as the technical expert and system owner for HVAC, fire detection, access control, and other facility-related automation systems. You will contribute to a digital-first, collaborative environment while ensuring reliability, compliance, and smooth handover to operations.

 

Who you will work with

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, IT, and external automation partners. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to align strategies, support daily operations, and ensure robust automation solutions across the site.

 

Major projects you could participate in 

  • PCS7: We have 4 infrastructures in Belgium where PCS7 is used,in which there are numerous projects such as the implementation of new molecule production, new equipment, and production optimizations. We also have upgrade projects to keep installations up to date.
  • AVEVA SP: Projects to redefine all our infrastructures to integrate new buildings and installations: site utilities and new research facilities.

 

What you will do

· You will support and evolve facilities automation systems, ensuring reliability and compliance across Belgian sites.

· You will be responsible for developing and maintaining automation documentation, procedures, and software throughout asset lifecycle.

· You will manage collaboration with integrators and vendors during design, development, testing, and execution phases.

· You will participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, validation, and 24/7 hybrid support with automation partners.

· You will lead alignment workshops and contribute to automation strategy, including HMI, reporting, and alarm philosophy.

· You will deliver training and ensure smooth handover to operations teams through a digital-first approach.

 

Evolution in the role 

BelTech Automation was officially created in January 2025. It is a team under construction and expansion, with the ambition to align our support models for production and projects in Belgium.

This could lead to growth opportunities in technical, project, and management areas. The team currently consists of 15 internal members and more than 80 external collaborators. 

 

Interested ?

For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills

· Master’s degree in automation with minimum 5 years of experience in the field.

· Strong competencies in AVEVA (mandatory), automation design, execution, commissioning, validation, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of facilities and HVAC is seen as a nice to have.

· Ability to analyze complex technical issues and present clear, structured recommendations.

· Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and change-management skills in dynamic environments.

· Digital mindset with understanding of MES, monitoring platforms, data integrity, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
