Expert Advisor, Trade Finance

As trade finance expert advisor, you will play a key role in supporting businesses with their international trade operations. You’ll provide in-depth expertise on financial instruments such as letters of credit, guarantees, stand-by, documentary collections and other trade finance solutions. You will also act as a contact point for internal sales teams and clients, while ensuring strict compliance with international standards. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Act as a facilitator for the entire trade finance cycle, which includes the issuance, confirmation, notice, amendment and payment of letters of credit and standby letters of credit.

  • Act as an expert advisor to internal teams, sharing best practices and rules applicable to international trade instruments.

  • Stay up to date on market changes and ecosystem needs so that you can uncover opportunities for better supporting the sustainable growth of our member and client businesses, as well as our service offer.

  • Provide an overall vision of the managed portfolio, while overseeing the quality of business relationships and implementing actions to promote client loyalty and retention.

  • Work with legal, credit and operational services to ensure transactions are processed smoothly.

  • Support business teams by providing specialized advice to optimize solutions offered to clients.

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of internal processes and contribute to operational optimization projects.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Certification in trade finance (CITF, CSDG, etc.)

  • Knowledge of French is required

  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Knowledge of specialized banking tools, trade finance systems and SWIFT messaging

  • Extensive proficiency in the Uniform Customs and Practice (UCP/RUU 600)

  • Advanced knowledge of transactions related to SBLC, guarantees and import/export letters of credit

  • Advanced knowledge of other ICC frameworks: ISP98, URDG 758, UCC Article 5
