This unique one-year program is delivered primarily online, allowing employees to earn while they learn and apply their new knowledge on-the-job. Once successfully completed, employees receive an Associate Certificate from BCIT, a post-secondary educational institution recognized across North America.

The health and safety of our employees is always our top priority at Interfor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this has meant coming together as a team to find new ways to work safely in a very different environment.

In March, we stopped business travel and requested that staff at all Interfor offices work from home to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. However, the majority of our employees work in our mills manufacturing lumber. These jobs cannot be done from home and Interfor’s operations are considered an essential service in the regions where we operate. In response, Interfor developed and implemented an Exposure Control Plan across the company based on recommendations from leading and local health authorities we operate in.

Through the Exposure Control Plan, we developed new processes to keep our employees, contractors and suppliers safe. These include daily health self-assessments, temperature checks, additional PPE, extensive social distancing measures, and additional cleaning and disinfection at each operation. We especially thank our leadership teams for their work in communicating and implementing these changes in the mills and the woodlands.

We are grateful to our employees for their commitment and hard work in the face of adversity. We also give a special thanks to the frontline and healthcare workers in the communities where we operate for their strength and perseverance.
