Job Responsibility
· Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations, especially in energy and construction sectors.
· Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments on active BESS projects.
· Develop, implement, and maintain BESS-specific health and safety plans.
· Lead and support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
· Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to employees and contractors.
· Promote best practices in electrical safety, with emphasis on LV and HV systems.
· Maintain and update safety records including RAMS, audit reports, incident logs, and training records.
· Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to enforce and improve safety performance.
Job Requirements

Must-Have:

  • 5-7 years of relevant EHS experience in the energy or construction sectors
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification)
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and applicable codes of practice
  • Proven background in the energy or construction sectors
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and practices
  • Ability to design and implement practical safety strategies and site-specific controls
  • Confident in delivering inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions to diverse audiences
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively alongside contractors and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travelfrequentlyto project sites

Nice to Have (Advantageous)

  • Specific experience working on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects
  • Prior experience in renewable energy sector
  • TechIOSHor working towards CMIOSH status
  • Experience with ISO 45001 implementation or maintenance
  • First Aid qualification
  • Formal investigation training (e.g., ICAM,TapRooT, or similar)
