Position Overview:

The Employee Communications Manager, People Programs plays a central part in shaping a positive and connected experience for Autodeskers by leading strategic communications and marketing for key people programs and initiatives. The person in this role will make an impact by delivering timely, clear, engaging, and high-value communications. Success will be measured not by opens, clicks, and views, but by how clearly and confidently employees understand, engage with, and act on communications, especially during moments that matter most.

This role partners closely with the People & Places (PPL) organization to lead communications across a breadth of subject matter, serving as a trusted communications advisor to leaders and program owners.

This role contributes to Autodesk’s enterprise narrative by translating complex strategies, programs, and change moments into clear, aligned communications, helping employees understand where we’re going, why it matters, and their role in delivering business results.

This role is expected to operate with a systems mindset, supporting predictable operating rhythms, leader- and manager-enabled communications, and scalable content delivery while remaining responsive to emerging needs. The role balances 25% strategy, 50% execution, and 25% responding to the unexpected, independently leading day-to-day communications program development and execution of employee experiences while partnering with leadership on direction, prioritization, and complex problem solving.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, HR Communications, and can be 100% remote in the U.S. or Canada.

Responsibilities:

PPL Communications Strategy, Planning, and Execution

Lead the strategy and execution of multi-channel employee communications for PPL programs, ensuring alignment with Autodesk’s Corporate Intent and Employee Communications strategy.

Serve as a trusted communications partner to PPL leaders and program owners, providing counsel on messaging, audience segmentation, channel strategy, employee experience, and communication planning.

Guide and contribute to integrated editorial planning across employee communication channels, balancing enterprise priorities with PPL needs and proactively identifying opportunities to reduce noise and increase clarity.

Lead end-to-end communications for programs and initiatives, including content development across email, Autodesk One, Slack, video, presentations, and live or virtual moments, leveraging scalable frameworks and playbooks.

Develop integrated communications plans that define objectives, key messages, audiences, channels, and success metrics.

Respond effectively to emerging PPL communications needs, adjusting plans while maintaining alignment with broader enterprise narratives.

Maintain connectivity with a broad network of communicators, including the Enterprise Systems and Experience Communications team, consolidating technology and people efforts when appropriate in service of a fully integrated experience across shared services.

Leader and Manager Enablement

Design and deliver scalable leader and manager enablement strategies, equipping leaders with clear messaging, tools, and frameworks to communicate effectively and consistently with their teams.

Create and standardize manager-ready content (e.g., talking points, FAQs, message maps) that enables consistent communication and reduces reliance on ad hoc messaging.

Work with other Employee Communications verticals to embed enablement thinking into major PPL communication moments.

Global Employee Engagement and Storytelling

Identify and shape storytelling opportunities that reinforce Autodesk’s employee value proposition, elevate employee voices, and strengthen engagement and culture.

Participate in content development and publication, including research, interviews, drafting, editing, and coordination with creative partners as needed.

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

Elevate and operationalize communications operating rhythms, including intake processes, editorial planning, and shared standards across Employee Communications.

Proactively identify and implement opportunities to streamline communications, reduce duplication, and improve the employee experience.

Leverage available tools, data, and emerging best practices (including AI-enabled communications capabilities, where appropriate) to improve reach, relevance, and effectiveness.

Measurement and Insight

Measure and analyze communications effectiveness using quantitative and qualitative data, translating insights into actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.

Share insights with stakeholders and influence future communications strategies based on data and employee feedback.

Qualifications:

6+ years experience in Communications related to employees, human resources, or business.

Technical communications experience preferred.

Strategic Communications and Content Development

Ability to develop communications strategies aligned to business objectives rather than just executing against defined plans.

Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone, format, and complexity for different audiences while maintaining a consistent voice.

Experience supporting multi-channel employee communications and working within integrated editorial environments.

Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable messaging.

Stakeholder Partnership

Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and serve as a strategic advisor to stakeholders at all levels, including influencing decisions and guiding communication approaches with clarity and professionalism.

Confidence navigating ambiguity and aligning diverse stakeholder perspectives while maintaining composure and focus.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Strategic Consulting and Influence

Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to complex business challenges, asking probing questions and recommending effective communication solutions.

Skilled at influencing without authority and driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders.

Mindset and Ways of Working

Systems-oriented and solutions-focused, with an ability to balance strategic thinking with executional excellence.

Comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership in day-to-day work while collaborating with leadership on direction and priorities.

Curious, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
