Responsibilities include supporting technology and flight missions by upgrading facilities, hardware fabrication, cleanroom operations, providing technical expertise, metrology, and building specialized components. The program also improves space flight systems by updating and managing one of the most advanced environmental test and integration centers in the U.S. Government.

Summary of Work

The EMI Engineer will support EMI Military Standard testing, participate in On Job Training (OJT), and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain high standards in electromagnetic interference testing and analysis. Additional responsibilities include working in cleanroom environments, performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and maintaining ESD operator certification. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to quality and safety in all testing and operational procedures.

These positions are responsible for conducting electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions and susceptibility testing using various GSFC facilities and equipment. Additionally, the contractor will provide services related to magnetic properties and field simulation testing, including magnetic characterization, sensor calibration, and de-Gaussing of spacecraft or scientific instruments .

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • EMI personnel will receive On Job Training (OJT). Due to changing EMI requirements driven by technological advancements, candidates are strongly encouraged to obtain and maintain iNARTE certification in EMI Military Standard testing. Senior-level engineers and technicians must hold this certification, which requires a minimum of nine years of working or educational experience.   • Ability to travel as needed for project requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime (OT) to meet project deadlines.
  • ESD operator certification, with demonstrated experience in electrical safety protocols.
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments, adhering to strict contamination control procedures.

Basic Compensation:  

Jobs on this contract range from $22.00/hour - $71.00/hour.  Pay range is specific to the Greenbelt, MD area.  

The offered rate will be based on the position, contract affordability, the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and in consideration of internal parity. 

 Additional Compensation: 

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
