Position SummaryReporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Power Systems Engineer (P.Eng.) will lead and execute power system engineering projects across industrial and utility sectors. This role combines design, analysis, client support, and occasional fieldwork.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the development of junior engineering staff
- Plan and deliver electrical engineering projects for industrial and utility clients
- Perform power system studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow, grounding, harmonics)
- Design and integrate protection and control systems (e.g., SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider)
- Develop and review electrical drawings (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams)
- Design and modify electrical distribution systems (switchgear, MCCs, transformers, relays, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues with practical solutions
- Support commissioning, inspections, and field data collection as required
- Prepare technical proposals, estimates, and client documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Saskatchewan or eligible for registration
- 10+ years of overall experience, including a minimum of 5+ years of experience obtained after earning P.Eng. designation, in relevant power systems engineering.
- Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower) is an asset
- Familiarity with protection relays and substation/automation systems is an asset
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
