Job Description
AECOM is seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to support complex data center and semiconductor manufacturing facility projects. This role involves designing, reviewing, and implementing highperformance electrical systems in fastpaced, multidiscipline environments that include mechanical, structural, ICT, security, fire protection, and BMS/EPMS engineering teams. The position requires strong technical expertise in power distribution, reliability engineering, and applicable codes/standards, along with strong communication skills to collaborate with global teams and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Design and implement electrical systems for data centers and semiconductor facilities, including medium and lowvoltage power distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, grounding, lighting, and emergency power systems.
- Develop electrical schematics, singleline diagrams, load calculations, bill of materials, and installation drawings.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with NEC, IEC, and all relevant industry codes and safety standards.
Project Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams (architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, ICT, security, BMS/EPMS) to ensure integrated and optimized designs.
- Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing technical insights and resolving design challenges early.
- Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittal reviews, technical clarifications, and site inspections.
Quality, Safety & Performance
- Conduct design reviews, quality checks, and peer reviews per AECOM standards.
- Analyze electrical systems for load balancing, reliability, capacity planning, and efficiency improvements.
- Assist in development of electrical safety procedures, testing plans, and commissioning support.
Project Support & Documentation
- Contribute to technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Support proposal development for new data center and advanced manufacturing opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 10–20 years of electrical design experience in missioncritical, industrial, semiconductor, or data center facilities. (Aligned with experience levels indicated in semiconductor and data center engineering roles.)
- Strong understanding of power systems engineering, NEC/IEC codes, and design best practices.
- Experience with power studies (shortcircuit, arcflash, coordination) preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or related BIM environment.
- Strong communication and problemsolving skills; ability to work in fastpaced, timesensitive environments with minimal oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain one.
- Prior experience in semiconductor facility design or hyperscale data center design.
- Familiarity with BMS/EPMS systems and critical facility redundancy concepts.
- Experience collaborating across geographically distributed engineering teams
