ESH and Documentation Specialist

Overview

This position serves a dual function within the organization. The primary focus is to support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the environmental, health, and safety program in a manufacturing facility. The secondary focus is to provide technical writing and documentation support, including the development, revision, and control of various documents.

This position reports to the Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager, and provides support to all other organizations in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment while serving as a documentation resource.

The candidate will perform routine floor safety inspections, lead safety culture improvement campaigns, and lead/coordinate Safety Committee objectives. This role requires spending time on the production floor, and the candidate must be comfortable working around production equipment.  This role is also responsible for creating clear, accurate, and user-friendly program-level documents, procedures, work instructions, and other technical materials used by production, engineering, quality, and safety teams, so the candidate must have technical writing skills and documentation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct, organize, or schedule safety training (e.g., toolbox talks, or formal training), and onboarding safety orientations.
  • Perform routine workplace inspections, audits, and hazard analyses.
  • Assist with maintenance of safety documentation, records, reports, and training logs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) in production, engineering, quality, and safety to gather technical information and translate it into clear, concise documentation.
  • Assist with developing, writing and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, such as work instructions, training and other reference materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of, or exposure to, OSHA standards (e.g., OSHA 10/30 training, relevant certifications).
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in like role
  • Experience working with safety committees.
  • Understanding of workplace hazard identification and basic safety practices.
  • Experience in technical writing, preferably within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to understand and simplify complex technical information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
