Expected salary range of $187,200 to $208,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose of Position
Provides leadership and directs the company's Occupational Health Services (OHS), Fitness for Duty (FFD) and Leave functions/programs, including operational and regulatory compliance, strategic planning and program development. Ensures development and application of processes and standards within each program and collaboration and streamlining of strategy and operations across all of the programs ensuring they comply with applicable law, are consistently executed and align with business objectives and processes.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
- Direct Occupational Health Services (OHS), Fitness for Duty (FFD), and company leave programs, including health and productivity initiatives, absence and disability case management, regulatory and non regulatory medical testing programs, DOT and non DOT FFD testing coordination, and administration of company leave programs including the Family and Medical Leave Act and related regulations.
- Lead development and implementation of integrated health promotion strategy through a team of key healthcare stakeholders, both internal and external to minimize preventable health costs and promote employee health, safety and productivity aligned with corporate goals.
- Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of company and regulatory medical policies and provide governance and oversight for FFD, case management, and return to work programs, including administration of FMLA, ADA, and reasonable accommodation processes.
- Ensure compliance with NRC, ADA, FMLA, DOT, and other applicable federal and state requirements by directing the development of standardized medical criteria, documentation controls, and audit ready processes.
- Direct financial analysis and performance evaluation of OHS, FFD, and leave initiatives, including benchmarking and identification of best practices to improve program effectiveness and cost management.
- Oversee the planning, development, and administration of health information systems and medical records processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support disability management, leave administration, and FFD reporting and metrics.
- Manage relationships with contract physicians and healthcare providers, evaluate service delivery and clinical performance, and review clinical summaries and event data to identify employee health trends and guide development of programs that address emerging health issues.
- Evaluate complex employee medical situations in collaboration with treating physicians, physician consultants, nurse case managers, and Occupational Health leadership to ensure appropriate care plans and return to work outcomes.
- Partner with Legal to direct the company response to lawsuits and regulatory matters involving disability and medical issues, including oversight of EEOC and Department of Labor cases and providing expert witness testimony when required while maintaining awareness of emerging regulatory trends.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Human Resources, Business, Legal, or related field
- Understanding of strategic business planning and budgeting processes
- 12 years of experience leading, advising on, or administering leave, disability, occupational health, or regulated workforce programs, including responsibility for or providing legal guidance related to regulatory compliance
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong leadership, teamwork and coaching skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and follow through
Preferred Qualifications
- Active RN or NP license
- Proficient in using healthcare and leave management software
- Master of Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or JD
- Knowledge of NRC medical regulations
- Extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices
