Director of Benefits Shared Services
The position incumbent is responsible implementing, directing and planning of the day-to day operations of group and insurance benefit programs across the UNC System (i.e. group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, workers' compensation, term life insurance, travel and accident plans, flexible spending account plans, and ACA, and taking into considerations of the impact to the UNC Optional Retirement Program, the UNC 403(b), UNC 457(b), Executive Retirement Plans, and Deferred Compensation programs). Serves as the deputy principal liaison with the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and the Department of Insurance on relevant benefit/insurance programs. The position duties include serving as a consultative resource in insurance matters for campus Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs), campus-based human resources (HR) experts in benefits, campus based risk managers, and UNC System Office leadership; collaborating with the AVP of University Benefits and UNC System partners and external entities on the development of benefit program, policies and systems; helping to coordinate or lead key human resources advisory groups; and managing a variety of initiatives and special projects to promote the use of sound benefit and insurance practices and standards throughout the University System.
