Your impact
As Director External Relations and Country Manager, you will lead the development and execution of Newmont´s Mexico external relations and social performance strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. Oversee communications, government affairs, and social performance initiatives to build trust, manage risks, and promote sustainable development within the operational context.
As part of our team, you will
- Develop and implement the country’s external relations and social performance strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals
- Oversee stakeholder engagement plans to maintain trust and transparency with communities, government entities, and other stakeholders
- Provide strategic direction to communications, government affairs, and social performance teams
- Represent the organization in high-level engagements with government agencies, industry associations, and community leaders
- Monitor compliance with regulatory and corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards and frameworks
- Assess and mitigate risks related to external relations and social performance in the country
- Ensure effective execution of social investment and community development projects
- Prepare and present reports on external relations and social performance to senior leadership
- Oversee crisis management and risk mitigation plans for the country, ensuring swift and effective responses.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration to integrate social and external relations priorities into broader business strategy
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Billingual or Advanced level of English required.
- Extensive leadership experience in external relations, government affairs, corporate affairs, or social performance
- Proven experience engaging with government, communities, and external stakeholders at a senior level
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, risk management, and social performance standards
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and make decisions in complex environments
- Experience leading and developing teams within matrix or multinational organizations
- Excellent communication, judgment, and stakeholder management skills

- Freequent travel within country as required
