The Director, Compensation & Executive Services is responsible for developing the overall compensation strategy. This role provides strategic leadership across executive and broad-based compensation programs, including budgeting, governance, employee communications, and performance monitoring. The incumbent ensures programs are competitive, sustainable, and aligned with business priorities, market practices, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of medium to long-term strategies to enhance global compensation vision and programs, including executive compensation strategies that align with the company's business goals and market trends.
  • Develop complex financial models, forecasts, costings to establish well-informed compensation recommendations for the executive team
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on compensation philosophy, pay positioning, and risk considerations, balancing competitiveness, affordability, and internal equity.
  • Monitor market trends and evaluate external competitiveness of the company’s compensation programs, overseeing recommendations on salary range movement and annual merit increase budget
  • Establish and manage compensation related budget, including annual merit increase budgets and incentive funding, ensuring financial discipline and transparency.
  • Ensure the compensation programs comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and company guidelines
  • Provide strategic guidance, partnership and communicate decisions to Senior HR leaders on compensation decisions to attract, motivate, and retain critical talent.
  • Accountable for Involuntary Separation programs as well as the retention, signing and On-The-Spot awards, while establishing appropriate guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness/knowledge of industry and legislative developments including Pay Equity.
  • Evolve the job evaluation career framework and other compensation tools to support and promote employee development and growth across the organization.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of compensation professionals, fostering a high-performing, consultative, and future-ready function.
  • Oversee comprehensive annual and ad hoc benchmarking activities for executive and non executive roles, ensuring the use of appropriate peer groups and reputable market data sources.
  • Lead cross functional projects to modernize compensation frameworks, tools, and processes, including job evaluation methodologies, career frameworks, and incentive plan administration.
  • Act as the organization’s subject matter expert on executive compensation and emerging total rewards practices, bringing forward innovative, market relevant solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
  • CCP Designation
  • 10+ years of experience and knowledge in compensation and human resources.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • High degree of business acumen, aptitude to lead and influence at a senior level and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan tactics, set priorities and perform tasks in a complex environment
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
