Our opportunity
The Director, Area Franchise Lead leads Burger King's business across a defined portfolio of Asia-Pacific markets, with full P&L ownership and senior accountability for franchisee performance and restaurant operations.
Burger King is a mature, established brand across these markets. This role is focused on deepening franchisee relationships, raising the bar on restaurant operations, and improving the economics that make the system attractive to invest in and grow. You will be reporting to the GM, Burger King, APAC.
RBI follows a 5 day, in-office work schedule to support collaboration. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite 5 days per week.
Your roles & responsibilities:
1. Franchisee Relationship Management & Influence
The foundation of this role. Building the trust, credibility, and commercial alignment needed to drive real execution with each franchisee across portfolio.
Serve as the primary executive point of contact for master franchise partners, managing relationships that are commercially complex and require consistent, senior-level engagement.
Influence franchisee thinking on strategy, investment, and priorities — without direct operational control. The ability to lead through influence is critical.
Hold partners accountable across financial, operational, and brand performance through structured governance, strategic planning, and direct executive dialogue.
Work with partners to ensure they are set up for success — assessing and where necessary reshaping their organizational structures, team capabilities, and core business processes to support effective execution at scale.
Navigate tension between global brand standards and local franchisee priorities, finding alignment that serves both.
2. Restaurant Operations Excellence
Ensure that every Burger King restaurant across the portfolio operates to a consistently high standard — because brand equity is ultimately built (or eroded) at the restaurant level.
Champion a best-in-class guest experience across the portfolio — from food quality and speed of service to restaurant environment and digital touchpoints. Every guest interaction is a brand moment.
Set clear operational standards and ensure franchisees have the capability, processes, and accountability structures to deliver them consistently.
Monitor operations performance across the portfolio, identifying gaps and driving targeted improvement plans.
Balance brand non-negotiables with appropriate local flexibility, maintaining global consistency without stifling market-level execution.
3. Strategic Footprint Expansion
Continue growing the brand’s presence in a disciplined, returns-focused way — grounded in a clear view of where and how Burger King should grow across the region.
Lead strategic market planning across the portfolio — assessing whitespace opportunities, competitive dynamics, format strategy, and long-range development potential in each market.
Work with franchisee partners to identify and prioritize the right development opportunities: the right formats, locations, and market segments.
Oversee development commitments and pipeline delivery, holding partners accountable to agreed expansion targets.
Ensure new openings meet brand, operational, and economic standards from day one.
4. Franchisee Payback & System Economics
A healthy franchise system requires franchisees who are profitable and confident in their returns.
Diagnose franchisee P&L performance across the portfolio — identifying where unit economics can be improved through sales growth, cost optimization, or operational efficiency.
Work with partners and internal teams to implement initiatives that improve restaurant-level payback and franchisee confidence in the model.
Use financial performance data to prioritize where to focus resource and effort across the portfolio.
Your skills and experiences:
At least 7 years of experience in senior leadership roles within the QSR, franchising, or consumer businesses industries with full P&L ownership.
Previous experience in multi-market roles is required.
At least a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, management or similar.
Proven experience managing master franchisee or strategic partner relationships — including the ability to hold partners accountable and drive execution without direct operational control.
Deep understanding of the APAC region , with fluency across the region’s commercial and cultural diversity.
Strong commercial and financial acumen — comfortable with unit economics, franchise payback analysis, and multi-market P&L management.
Executive presence and credibility at the board and partner level.
