DevOps Engineer - IT Service Manager (IT-PW-WDA-2026-78-GRAP)

In this role, you will be a core member of the Web, DevOps and Authoring section in the IT-PW group. We provide, among others, services for web hosting, authoring and online collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Confluence, SharePoint, TWiki and Discourse. By joining us, you will manage and contribute to the continuous improvement of these services.

Your responsibilities:

  • Management and configuration of 3rd party cloud services: SharePoint Online and Microsoft Forms.
  • Maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and evolution of 3rd party solutions such as Confluence, TWiki and Discourse, deployed on premise on the PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) backed by OKD4 (OpenShift) infrastructure.
  • Contribution to global evolution of hosting infrastructure, including the future hosting for .NET Framework sites, and the migration and consolidation projects in the area of authoring and online collaboration tools.
  • Providing user support to the CERN community.
  • This role includes team supervision responsibilities.

Your profile:

  • Programming and system administration knowledge.
  • Experience in managing on-premise services and cloud services.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive mindset to identify challenges and drive innovative solutions.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commitment to user satisfaction, actively seeking feedback and collaborating with users to continuously improve services.

Skills:

  • Programming in Python and JavaScript.
  • Linux and Bash scripting.
  • Web technologies and protocols.
  • Git, CI/CD tools, test and deployment automation.
  • Kubernetes and/or OpenShift/OKD container technology and orchestration.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint Online administration is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Windows system administration and PowerShell is a plus.
  • Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • You have a professional background in Software or Computer Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
    • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
    • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
