Senior Drafter 

The primary responsibility of the Senior Drafter will be to produce shop and production drawings for sealed units (glazing). Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the candidate will work closely with the production, technical and engineering teams. As required, the candidate may also be assigned to the commercial department’s shop and fabrication drawings. The senior drafter may act as a resource for other team members. They must bring practical skills and innovation to the various design and production projects they are assigned. They will be responsible for maintaining technical documentation and tracking systems to provide a reliable and accurate source of information during and after contract. 

What You Will Do:   

• Produce shop and production drawings for sealed units and commercial products as needed and support increasing drawing production capacity with the team. 

• Learn and produce VC drawings.  

• Create and modify computer-aided designs and drawings. 

• Provide technical support to employees in production, maintenance, projects and sales. 

• Maintain good drawing and technical document management practices and standardize the library. 

• Availability to answer questions and address issues for team members.  

• Produce aluminum curtain wall drawings. 

• Structure and document system methods and standards. 

• Create templates to increase efficiency and reduce errors. 

• Document the plant’s know-how and the Technical Director’s expertise. 

• Coordinate with project managers. 

• Coordinate with external drafting subcontractors, with the ultimate goal of reducing dependence on external subcontractors. 

• Other duties as assigned. 

What You Need to Succeed:   

• Education: College-level training or vocational diploma in industrial drafting or building drafting (or equivalent relevant experience). 

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D). 

• Proficiency in Inventor (3D) is an asset. 

• Experience in doors and windows, sealed units or curtain walls is an asset. 

• Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written, is an asset. 

• Attention to detail and precision in producing required drawings. 

• Good communicator; must enjoy teamwork. 

• Analytical mindset and ability to react quickly. 

• Ability to work under pressure. 

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.   

• The expected Salary Range: $65,000-$95,000.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
