Your Impact:

Provide engineering support for tailings and water management to ensure safety and efficiency.

As Part of Our Team, You Will:
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety regulations and Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) requirements.
  • Conduct and interpret routine inspections, instrumentation data and performance monitoring of tailing storage facility (TSFs).
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) programs for tailings and water management systems.
  • Support and interface with the Engineer of Record (EoR) and external reviewers on dam safety matters.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide risk based recommendations to senior management.
  • Support planning and execution of TSF raises and construction activities, including quality assurance (QA) verification.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, monitoring data and compliance activities.
  • Responsible for assessing relevant risks, executing mitigation measures, and continuously monitoring for risks.
  • Support periodic reviews and updates of the Operations, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) Manual and Emergency Response Plan (ERP) documents based on operational learnings.
Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Formal qualifications in Civil Engineering or relevant disciplines.

 

Additional knowledge

  • Knowledge of Tailings Storage Facility design, construction, operation and closure.
  • Understanding of tailings deposition methods, beach development and freeboard management.
  • Knowledge of dam safety principles and key failure modes.
  • Familiarity with Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in construction planning and TSF raise execution and raise methodologies.
  • Understanding of compliance monitoring requirements.
  • Knowledge of risk management and relevant statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of water balance principles,  pumping systems and supernatant pond control.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and Trigger Action Response Plan (TARP) frameworks for TSFs and water storage facilities.
  • Understanding of Trigger Action Response Plans (TARP) and their linkage to instrumentation and operational decision making.
  • Understanding of OMS manuals and dam safety management systems.

 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 – 10 years working experience within Tailings or mining environment.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced management of facilities in accordance with the Global International Standard on Tailings Management.
  • Advanced project and construction management skills.
  • Advanced risk management capabilities.
  • Advanced data analysis proficiency.
  • Competent in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes.
  • Application of OMS procedures to conduct inspections, monitoring, and routine operational activities.
  • Execute and respond in accordance with ERP and TARP requirements, including escalation and communication protocols.
