Delivery Manager - Engineering
Responsibilities We are seeking a Delivery Manager Engineering to join our dynamic team at Principal. Job Responsibilities Own delivery, execution, and engineering outcomes for assigned programs and services. Translate business and platform strategy into executable engineering roadmaps. Act as the people manager and engineering enabler for Infrastructure Engineers reporting into the role. Engineering & Delivery Leadership (≈40%) Provide technical leadership across cloud native and workspace engineering initiatives, including: Infrastructure & device automation O365 / Teams Telephony platforms Conferencing & physical workspace technologies Copilot, Data engineering and analytics pipelines (e.g., Snowflake) Lead end-to-end Agile delivery with full ownership of planning, estimation, execution, risk management, and release outcomes. Ensure engineering guidelines across: Cloud security & DevSecOps Automation-first build Guide teams on automation of provisioning, configuration, and compliance, reducing manual operations. Promote engineering rigor through building reviews, documentation, and architectural alignment. Enable adoption of new technologies (AI/ML, GenAI, automation guided by data) where relevant to workspace and infrastructure domains. Coordinate run & support operations, including Incident and Problem Management, ensuring SLA adherence while driving permanent fixes. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement (≈30%) Establish and continually improve delivery and execution frameworks, including: Risk & dependency management Defect prevention and RCA Operational maturity and automation coverage Use metrics and analytics to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities. Lead engineering-focused continuous advancement, guaranteeing that automation and data insights produce tangible efficiency and stability benefits. Ensure teams operate with clear SOPs, standards, and governance, aligned to enterprise expectations. People Leadership & Capability Building (≈20%) Manage 8–15 direct reports, typically Infrastructure Engineers, Consultants, and Senior Engineers. Own staffing, onboarding, skill development, and backup planning. Coach engineers on: DevSecOps approach Proficiency in automation and data engineering Engineering ownership and accountability Drive performance management, including goal setting, feedback, and appraisals. Build a culture of psychological safety, learning, and engineering excellence. Organizational Contribution (≈10%) Partner with Portfolio Managers, Architects, and Business collaborators to ensure alignment and transparency. Contribute to organizational initiatives, cross-team forums, and engineering maturity programs. Act as a trusted delivery and people leader within the Engineering & Technology organization. Qualifications Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. ~12+ years of IT / Engineering experience, with exposure to delivery leadership or project leadership. Strong grounding in: Device Engineering (Intune, Autopilot, Client OS, SCCM, Imaging, etc) O365 (Exchange, Teams, Sharepoint, Power Platform, etc) Copilot Automation (Python, PowerShell, scripting) Infrastructure & workspace technologies Proven strengths in: Estimation and delivery planning People leadership Risk and stakeholder management Clear, crisp communication This is your chance to create a significant impact and grow with a company that values innovation and excellence.
