Data Science Senior Manager, Business and Strategy Analytics (Japan)
About the Team
The Business and Strategy Analytics team is part of the Intelligence and Data Solutions team, partnering with the Asia Pacific Regional President’s Office to enable Visa internal business units to optimize performance and profitability and make data-driven decisions. The successful candidate will focus on driving value from Visa’s unique data assets to strengthen and extend Visa’s impact in the payments landscape for the Japan market. Based in Tokyo, Japan, this role requires strong business acumen and analytical skills to deliver data science projects that solve Visa’s business objectives.
What an Data Science Senior Manager does at Visa:
The successful candidate will focus on driving value from Visa’ unique data assets to strengthen and extend Visa’s impact in the payments landscape for Japan market. You will be required to use your business acumen along with analytical skillset to deliver data science projects that solve Visa’s business objectives. Based on findings from data-driven analysis, you will draw fact-based insights and make actionable recommendations that reflect the business and context. You will be required to work with large data sets using quantitative techniques and build complex statistical models that learn from big data and provide data visualization to enable business stakeholders consume the information. Data sets will include, but not limited to, VisaNet transaction data, Visa operational data, and relevant third party data sources. We have a highly collaborative process and you are required to work across multiple teams and functions for leading & developing cutting edge, creative and advanced analytic solutions.
The role reports to Management Intelligence Lead within the AP Business and Strategy Analytics team, and also the Head of Japan Strategy, Business Planning & Operations, and will be based in Tokyo.

The position requires the ability to apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve business problems, and quickly arrive at recommendations that drive corporate priorities.
- Support annual strategic planning process and development of long-range revenue growth plan, together with Visa’s economic (pricing and interchange)
- Analyze Visa data, market reports and benchmarks to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development of long and short strategic plan as well as formulating strategic projects
- Support functional teams by identifying priorities and implementing necessary strategies to achieve financial year target while conducting performance management for key business volume targets
- Manage and troubleshoot reporting via data dashboards, perform root-cause analysis to resolve data discrepancies and ensure data integrity
- Partner with Japan leadership teams to formulate and execute key strategies for the market
- Collaborate with various Visa product, sales, consulting, marketing, gvt engagement teams and others to manage and track the implementation of strategic initiatives
