Your role and responsibilities

The role holder will serve as a Business Partner, taking responsibility for financial control, stakeholder management, and leading the Retained Finance Organization team. Acting as a point of contact, they will provide approvals, establish an escalation route, and collaborate with other functions to support issue resolution. Furthermore, they will offer valuable feedback to Hubs and Center of Expertise on service quality, driving continuous improvement.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to the Country Finance Leadership in Japan. Main stakeholders are local Country Holding Officer, local Business Controllers and Corporate functions such as Treasury, Tax, Internal Control.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Work independently with transparency, regular updates with strong focus on collaboration and stakeholders’ satisfaction,
  • Lead and develop the team incl. recruitment, performance management and career development
  • Day-to-day management of the Finance and O2C (Order-to-Cash) teams as well as overall P2P (Procure-to-Pay) and R2R (Record-to-Report and Statutory J-GAAP Owner) project management and coordination activities
  • Actively collaborate with Finance and Accounting Hub shared service center, responsible for transaction processing
  • Act a local representative for ABB Corporate End-to-End processes like Treasury, Tax, Insurance according to their local needs and agreement oof Scope of Work
  • Business partner with the local business controlling community to coordinate all finance related matters, concerns and/or opportunities related to risk management, processes or internal controls
  • Approvals as per approval matrix
  • Initiation and execution of actions towards improvement opportunities (KPIs) and solve controls deficiencies
  • Deliver Finance process outcomes – i.e. E2E process efficiency, reduced Manual Journal Entries, improved reliability of financial statements, increased control and compliance – defined together with the Group Process Owners (GPOs)
  • Manage internal controls to ensure full compliance with policies, procedures and local accounting standards
  • Coordinate T&E (Travel & Expenses) for Country Japan as the point of contact of T&E global vendors, T&E Regional Hub, and interface with local users

Qualifications for the role
  • You are engaged in providing high level of service to your stakeholders, Data-driven and the {insert relevant industry/sector} market
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced skills in J-GAAP Finance Accounting, You have 10+ years of experience in international group working with other remote functions, Center of Excellence and Shared Service Centers
  • Highly adept in SAP ERP and commonly used MS Office tools
  • You are passionate about engaging, proposing, collaborating and communicating and have a high sense for EQ and CQ
  • Degree in Accounting, Extensive knowledge of accounting practice, principles, J-GAAP and US GAAP and exposure to Tax, Treasury a strong plus
  • You are at ease communicating in English and Japanese, including to country and international executives
  • You hold current working permit valid in Japan
