Cost Analyst
Who Will You Be Working With?
You will work closely with the Operational Excellence team as well as partners across Sourcing and Supply Chain, Engineering, and Manufacturing. The role also involves collaboration with cross‑functional project teams and regular interaction with both internal and external project stakeholders. This position operates within a matrixed environment and requires strong collaboration, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
How Will You Make the Difference?
Within the Freight Equipment Organization, this position will develop the process for reporting and forecasting the product cost for existing locomotive and mining deals with emphasis on identifying trends and opportunities for cost improvement in the projects and product. They will establish processes and monitor project performance in relation to the essential responsibilities.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide updated cost walks for current freight equipment deals using cost analytics dashboard, oracle, obiee, MS excel, and other tools
- Establish and report out monthly cost out project track results for Operational Excellence team
- Partner with Sourcing, Engineering and Manufacturing to identify risks and opportunities to the current roll ups and forecasted roll ups and drive accountability and resolution with supporting functions to close risks and opportunities
- Identify and understand gaps, themes and trends in the data working with the cross functional teams for support
- Define and implement report out rhythms for communicating current roll ups and forecasted roll ups as well as project theme or trend identification
- Facilitate communication within the team, as needed, to achieve milestones and professionally manage communications with internal / external project stakeholders
- Primary Job locations are Grove City, PA and Erie PA
What We Want to Know About You
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and /or equivalent combination of experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in cost forecasting role
- Knowledge/use of Oracle and OBIEE software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with large data files
Desired Characteristics
- Willingness to learn engineering, manufacturing and supply chain tools and processes in depth, if not already familiar
- Strong familiarity and skillset in Excel
- Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and work across the matrix organization and project manage issues to resolution.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
What Will Your Typical Day Look Like?

The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
