SUMMARY

Performs journey level work installing, performing preventive maintenance on and repairing electrical and mechanical systems at Charlotte Douglas International Airport with an emphasis on conveyor and loading bridge systems. Performs other general building maintenance work incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order.

Installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems with an emphasis on conveyor and loading bridge systems, including specific tasks such as changing motors, bearings, gearbox reducers, and loading bridge tire repairs. General building maintenance work, including manual labor, incidental to above duties or necessary to keep buildings in working order. Compile lists of equipment, tools and supplies needed. Track and order parts to maintain inventory. Operate cars, vans, lifts, bucket trucks and other heavy equipment. Extensive knowledge of other airport systems including electrical, plumbing, generators, emergency systems, aircraft fueling systems and electrical vehicle chargers. Work in close proximity to aircraft while performing repair and maintenance to passenger boarding bridges and associated ground support equipment. Subject to emergency call back for equipment repairs and inclement weather. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent and One year(s) of relevant experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
