This role will be part of the Gulf of America Maintenance team specifically supporting Automation from The Woodlands, TX office. Alarm Management and J5 Bypass Reporting Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, and reporting of alarm systems and control system bypasses. The position works closely with Operations, Automation Engineering, and OT to manage nuisance alarms, monitor active bypasses, and maintain high‑quality alarm performance metrics.
Alarm Management
Administer and support the site or asset Alarm Management Program in accordance with ISA‑18.2 standards.
Monitor daily alarm performance, including alarm rates, standing alarms, alarm floods, and nuisance alarms.
Support alarm rationalization activities, documentation updates, and philosophy alignment
J5 Bypass Management
Own daily J5 bypass monitoring and reporting, including AM/PM shift handover logs
Ensure bypass events are properly categorized, commented, approved, and entered timely in J5
Investigate discrepancies between J5, HMI, and alarm databases (e.g., PSI) and resolve or escalate as needed.
Operations Support
Serve as a subject‑matter expert for alarm and bypass management processes
Support Operations during abnormal situations by providing alarm and bypass insight
Assist with training, guidance, and documentation related to alarm and bypass processes
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
2 + years of experience with Alarm Management in an industrial or process control environment.
Hands‑on experience with J5, control system bypass tracking, or similar operational tools.
Familiarity with ISA‑18.2 alarm management standards and best practices
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail
Experience supporting offshore oil & gas operations
Working knowledge of control systems
Experience with SQL
